Update 4.88 is here for them PS3 console and here is the full list of changes and fixes added in this patch.
Even if the PS3 has been on the decline for some time, Sony surprisingly released a new system update for the console on June 1, 2021. Most of the people have switched to the PS4 and PS5 consoles, but there are still people out there playing on the PS3.
The main reason people love to play on the PS3 is because both the PS4 and PS5 cannot play PlayStation 3 games. Don’t expect any new features with this new update as it is only for stability. You can read it full patch notes posted below.

“On June 1st, 21st, an update for the PlayStation 3 system software was released. To download PS3 system software version 4.88, you need at least 200 MB of free space on the PS3 hard drive (system update) or on removable media (PC update).
Always update your PS3 system to the latest version of the system software. With the update you will enjoy additional functions, improved usability and improved security. “

Originally Sony wanted to close the online shop for the PS3, but the great demand prevented this. The online shop for the console will still be open for the foreseeable future.
