Compared to the current Monster Hunter Rise title, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin brings back a franchise staple, the almighty Paintberry. These helpful berries are used to make paintballs that are now missing from the mainline series, but here at Wings of Ruin they are of great importance because of their uses. Paintballs are used to increase a monster’s retreat rate, which gives you more chances of getting its egg, and since the Painberry item is needed to make these you understand that it is of equal importance.
How to get Paintberry in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin?
“A juicy berry that gives off a terrible smell. An ingredient for making paintballs. “
There’s no “easy” way to get paintberries, so you’ll have to keep searching the overworld for berry knots. These look just like you imagine them, little spots on the floor with fallen berries that you can get close enough to interact with, and your character will look for anything there. The paintberry falls out of these knots very often, in every region of this vast world, so every time you look for one you have the chance to get a number of them.
An additional way to get Paintberries is through side quest rewards either from the quest board or from random NPCs and through treasure chests. However, since these are mostly random, we cannot consider them a solid method of grinding some paintberries. Also, add a monstie to your party with the Berry Search ability so that it can mark any berry points on your map. This way you won’t miss a nearby node and you can manage them efficiently.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins is available on Nintendo Switch and Steam. For more related content about the game, see the rest of the guides here.
