How to make tinted glass

Among the new blocks added in the Caves and Cliffs Part 1 update, there is a new transparent block, so we’re going to look at how to make tinted glass in Minecraft. This glass is quite different from the other types of glass already in the game and should have some new and unique building uses.

How to make tinted glass

To start, you’ll need to melt some regular glass from some sand to use as the base for this new block. The second thing you will need to make this block is at least 4 amethyst shards. Amethyst shards can be collected from underground geodes, so put on your mining hat and get to work collecting some shards. And you’ll need lots of these too if you’re planning on making a lot of this new block since you can only make two pieces of tinted glass at a time on the workbench. But once you have your materials you can start by placing a single piece of glass in the center of the workbench, and then all you have to do is place four amethyst shards on each side of the glass block. This will create two tinted pieces of glass that you can use as you wish.

A unique way of seeing through things

Now that you have your tinted glass, you might be wondering how it works. And it’s very simple, this glass blocks all light and still acts as a window through which you can see things. It’s also unique in that you can pick it up with any tool, including your fists, no need for a silky grip this time around. One disadvantage of this block, however, is that there is no glass sheet variant of it, so you can only use the full block instead of the thinner variations that other types of glass come in.

Minecraft is now available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
