Another bird wyvern in Monster Hunter Rise, the Great wroggi is a poisonous animal that only cares for itself and how to remotely pursue its prayer with precise attacks. His trademark, poisonous spitting, is the most powerful tool for doing this. So make sure you have a few antidotes together every time you hunt a Great Wroggi. We’re going to talk about all of this and anything more that is needed here in this guide.
How to beat Great Wroggi in Monster Hunter Rise
While the Big Wroggi travels alongside his little Wroggi and even receives the title of venomous commander, he’s nowhere near a true leader, or at least a tactician like the Big Baggi. It barely commands these little creatures to do anything at all, so they all happen to hit them all either up close or at a distance with poisonous clouds. That said, it can surprisingly be an effective way to deal with us hunters if we are not careful enough to avoid all projectiles thrown at us.

Great wroggi overview
Great Wroggi are devious monsters who hide behind their subordinates until they find a chance to attack. You are constantly shooting poisonous spray that will poison you as soon as it touches you. If this happens, be sure to remove the poison immediately as it can lower your HP very quickly and easily. Whenever there is an opening for them, they tend to use their whole body as a weapon, with a wide device attacking every hunter in their path.
With that in mind, two things are the easiest way to get rid of a large wroggi quickly and efficiently. First, focus all your front and side attacks on the head. The reason is that you need to get rid of the poisonous sack as soon as possible. That way, it won’t spit poison on you, which will make the fight easier when you take away its most powerful tool.
Second, you need to keep the fight at close range where it cannot easily use its poisonous abilities. However, to do this, you need to get rid of the minions, who also spit poisonous projectiles, although they are much smaller. As you defeat the little boys, watch out for the Great Wroggi shoulder load. It does you quite a bit of harm, but it also knocks you back and gives it time to reposition itself at a great distance.
When you fight the normal version of the Great Wroggi in Monster Hunter Rise, none of this is so difficult to achieve. However, the High Rank and Apex versions seem to be quite problematic as the monster is much more aggressive. So try to be patient and only attack when an opportunity arises. As with almost all Bird Wyvern enemies, mobile weapons are best for such quick combat, but don’t hesitate to use others that you prefer as it doesn’t make much of a difference with this type of monster.
