League of Legends: Wild Rift is finally here, but does the game have controller support? Wild Rift is a brand new League of Legends experience that’s mobile-ready, with faster games, a slightly smaller map, and other tweaked changes. Since many mobile games support controllers and Wild Rift was designed from the ground up for phones and tablets, many gamers wonder if they can play the game with a controller. League of Legends has never had gamepad support, but Wild Rift is a completely new game so anything is possible. Here’s everything we know about controller support in League of Legends: Wild Rift.
Does Wild Rift have controller support?
League of Legends: Wild Rift does not have controller support. The game can only be played with touch controls on iOS and Android.
However, this does not mean that the game will never receive controller support. Riot Games has announced that Wild Rift will hit consoles after its initial release on mobile. This could suggest that the mobile version of the game will be supported by controllers at some point in the future. Currently, Wild Rift only supports touch controls on iOS and Android. However, a future patch could enable gamepad support.
Controllers are becoming increasingly popular with mobile gamers, especially PlayStation and Xbox controllers, which recently received official support for iOS, and games intended for touch-only purposes have gamepad supported through updates.
For now, however, Wild Rift players will have to be content with the touch controls on the screen. The controls are in ergonomic positions and are easy to reach when needed. If you want to make changes to the control scheme, there is even a full button assignment. Movement is mapped to a virtual joystick on the left side of the screen, and all skills are on the right side of the screen. This allows for constant movement, auto attack, and use of skills that PC League of Legends veterans are used to. A gamepad could make things a bit easier, especially for things like skill shots and other skills, but a touchscreen is all Wild Rift players have until Riot decides to change things up.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is now available for iOS and Android devices. A console version is currently under development.
