Outrider is not a live service game, although it shamelessly draws designs that are often associated with Games as a Service (GaaS) titles. People Can Fly was determined to differentiate their cooperative looter shooter from the service-oriented offerings that the gaming industry is taking over.
Although it has drawn (pretty) comparisons to The Division and Destiny, Outriders tries to mix elements of these games while remaining an ultimate, complete product. That brings us to an important question revolving around the hybrid vision of People Can Fly: Can Outriders be played offline?
Can you play Outriders offline?
While Outriders is determined not to adhere to the live service framework, it cannot be played offline. In order to take part in the journey through Enoch in single player mode, an active internet connection is required at all times.
The fact that the game is always online is attributed to the fact that scammers are thwarted with game saves stored in the cloud. Because of this, People Can Fly stated that there is no plan in the foreseeable future to make the game compatible with offline play.
Storing saved files in the cloud should theoretically allow developers easy access to data if they want to investigate the increasing amount of fraud and exploit trends. Of course, we will have to wait and see how the information is used if / if it becomes necessary.
Outriders is for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Stadia available.
