Apex Legends Tier List Season 12 (2022)

Apex Legends has a diverse roster of characters with various abilities and characters. Whether you want to pick the best competitive options or someone whose vocal lines can’t get enough, there are many options. This is where we come in, with the Apex Legends tier list shedding light on some of the best battle royale characters. This is where we come to. We’ve put of Apex Legends tier list season 12 (2022) together for the current season, so you know exactly who are the top legends.

Apex Legends has many unusual ways to humiliate and dominate your opponent, from teleportation to airstrikes, gas traps to jumping platforms. The Legends lineup now has 20 people (thanks to the latest addition to Apex Legends, Maggie), and they’ve all got their quirks.

While the design or legend collection can be enough to convince players to use it, much stick with their legend for one reason only: they are great at picking up kills and securing victories with them in a battle royale. But as we get closer to Season 12: The Challenge, which introduces Mad Maggie and introduces a new look. In this apex legend tier list, we’re going to rank the Legends from best to worst for Season 12.

This is just a shortlist of all the new content, and balance changes added with the apex legend Season 12 update, but they are all essential to know if you want to start the new season and are adequately prepared. And while there aren’t any significant balance changes when it comes to Legends, apart from updates to Crypto’s Drone and Nox Gas Traps nerfs, that doesn’t mean the metadata will remain out of date on the contrary.

Arenas mode in Apex Legends requires some slightly different tactics, and we also have a separate layer list for that at the bottom of this page. Use the links below to find your tier list so you can work your way up the Apex Legends ranks and rank up in Apex Legends Arenas.

A new legend, changes to two maps, balance adjustments for weapons and codes more than enough to shake things up in Season 12, and the tier list is here to help you decide which legends to play. There are now 20 legends to choose from, with Mad Maggie as the newest member. If you’re unsure which one to pick or want a new boss, here’s our tier list of the best Apex Legends Season 12 legends.

Apex Legends Season 12 Defiance Legends tier list

Before we begin this apex legend season 12 tier list, remember two essential factors. First off, tier lists aren’t an exact science because there’s a lot to take into account that’s sometimes hard to gauge, like your current rank, mechanical abilities, personal preferences, and whether or not you’ll communicate with your team. Second, this tier list is explicitly made for Battle Royale mode, not Arenas or Control game modes.

Description of the Apex legend tier lists

We have opted for a standard five-tier system, S to D.

  • S-Tier: You can’t go wrong with these Legends.
  • A-Tier: Solid all-around choice that will benefit your team more than other Legends.
  • B-Tier: Serviceable Legends that can impact a match if used correctly.
  • C-Tier: Choices that won’t have a significant impact on whether your team wins a match or not.
  • D-Tier: Should only be picked if you need to complete a challenge.

These are our top picks for Apex Legends Season 11. These legends are a must for any squad heading to Kings Canyon, World’s Edge, Olympus or Storm Point.

Apex Legends Season 12 Legends tier list

S Tier – The Best Legends in Apex Legends

These are the very best characters you can choose in Apex Legends matches.

Lifeline

Lifeline’s rework in the Legacy patch for Season 9 has fundamentally changed how the character is played. At first, it was seen as a straight cut, but players have learned to play this new lifeline in the meantime. She is an excellent support legend, and players who know how to use her group will be valuable teammates.

Bloodhound

Bloodhound has been a player favourite for a long time; not only is he one of the original legends, but he also doesn’t need to be unlocked. His abilities to survey opponents and spot enemy locations are too good to give up, and any team would benefit from hacking their walls.

Despite a slight decline since its introduction, Bloodhound is still at the top of the pack. His high ability not only gives them a speed boost but also means they can use the Eye of the Allfather tactical scan frequently, perfect for pushing multiple teams and letting teammates know about potential flankers.

The ability to take out enemies multiple times in such a short period is potent.

Bloodhound’s Passive isn’t amazing, but his other abilities make up for it. There’s also a bonus as a Recon character, and they can clear survey beacons to gain lore from the sweet ring as well.

Abilities:

  • Tracker – Finds clues left behind by foes to help track their movements.
  • Eye of the Allfather – Briefly reveal enemies, traps, and clues throughout all structures in front of Bloodhound.
  • Beast of the Hunt – Transform into the ultimate hunter. Enhances Bloodhound’s senses, allowing them to see cold tracks and move faster.

Wraith

Wraith sometimes gets a bad rap from other players, but in addition to the many toxic ghosts you’ll encounter, you’ll also meet some of your incredibly skilled companions. Due to his tactical ability, it is best used as a forward scout in the void, allowing him to disappear and respawn nearby.

Wraith has gotten a bad rap, as many Wraith lines are notorious for appearing alone and out of the game instead of waiting to respawn when they inevitably drop. However, this does not prevent him from being a valuable team member, of course, with the right player at the keyboard.

His dimensionally cracked portals are also incredibly easy to use for quick repositions and unexpected sides or to get out of a sticky situation. Many Wraiths are adept at getting their teammates to safety using their portal.

Even with Wraith’s Hitbox getting some tweaks to make it easier to hit, Wraith is still a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

Abilities:

  • Voices from the Void – You hear a voice when danger approaches. As far as you can tell, it’s on your side.
  • Into the Void – Reposition quickly through the safety of “void” space, avoiding all damage.
  • Dimensional Rift – Link two locations with portals for 60 seconds.

Mad Maggie

Season 12 finally brought Mad Maggie de Salvo to Apex Legends! The excitement surrounding her introduction to gaming paid off. Sometimes a new legend isn’t always one of the best in the game. However, Mad Maggie is one of the few that has been presented with much fanfare.

All of her abilities combine to make her one of the deadliest legends in the game right now. There was no place to hide from her passive ability in the character of the Wardlord. If Maggie already shot and hurt you, she can track you down to take you out. Also, she can move faster than anyone while she is carrying weapons.

Her Riot Drill tactical ability of hers also means that hiding is almost impossible (if she knows where you are). This exercise can get stuck on any obstacle and burn any of the enemies on the other side. This includes the shield of the Dome of Gibraltar. As we said before, it is very difficult to hide from Mad Maggie.

Finally, her ultimate might be a giant grenade, but she is a powerful gigantic grenade. Once you unleash your wrecking ball, it will keep rolling and shooting near any enemies you come across. As they go, they leave behind speed boosters that anyone on Mage’s team can use. This means that you can catch any enemy that tries to escape from the exploding ball.

All in all, Mad Maggie is shaping up to be one of the best legends in the game. We will update this page once Season 12 has been live for a while. Hopefully, Maggie will continue to dominate Apex games.

  • Warlord’s Ire – She can sense and track down any enemies she has hurt. She also moves faster while carrying Shotguns.
  • Riot Drill – A projectile that attaches to an obstacle and burns enemies on the other side.
  • Wrecking Ball – Unleash a bouncing ball (a gigantic grenade) that detonates near enemies and leaves speed boosts behind it.

Gibraltar

While you may not see many people picking up this Legend in public lobbies, Gibraltar is the most popular Legend in the Apex Legends World Series, for a good reason. Despite his massive chest and the fact that he feels like he’s running through black when you move (even though he runs as fast as everyone else except Octane), his abilities are invaluable to a successful team.

Gibby’s primary tubes can be very loose at first, but once they prove their worth to him, they can be a lifesaver with plenty of defensive capabilities. His Gun Shield Passive ability adds a bit more to his armour (in addition to his improved damage reduction), and his Dome of Protection tactical ability is one of the best tactics in the game.

Do you want to make a risky rotation? Do you want to push the enemy squad, but you have no cover? Do you want to revive a teammate? Do you want to scan your survey beacon without being attacked? The Gibraltar bubble is perfect for all those situations. Leaving one can lead to a bubble fight that requires players to move in and out of the area. Weapons are the best for these fights, so check out our list of the best weapons in Apex Legends to find the best options.

And that’s before we hit its full power, which can end the opponent’s push or force enemies to hide. Gibraltar has an excellent range, but you may need to practice with him a bit to get used to his batter’s box and movement.

Gibraltar abilities:

  • Gun Shield (passive) – Aiming down sights deploys a gun shield that blocks incoming fire
  • Dome of Protection (tactical) – Throw a dome shield that blocks attacks
  • Defensive Bombardment (ultimate) – Call in a concentrated mortar strike

Ash

Ash was recently released in Season 11. Although he is one of the newer Legends, he is already one of the most useful. His outfit is partially inspired by the ronin-class Titan in Titanfall two but comes across as a mix of Wraith and Wattson, with a touch of Bloodhound for good measure.

Its one-way gate offers attractive turning options, and the Arc Snare acts as a Wattson-style iron trap. Thoughtfully, Ash combines some of the best aspects of multiple legends. If you play with Ash or have Ash on your team, your confidence will increase because you know that your team will have a good chance of dominating the match. However, it can be very annoying to face Ash’s rival. At this point, all you can do is run and hide.

Abilities:

  • Marked for Death – Ash’s map shows the location of recent death boxes and marks surviving attackers.
  • Arc Snare  Throw a spinning snare that damages and tethers the first enemy who gets too close.
  • Phase Breach – Tears open a one-way portal to a targeted location.

Seer

After spending plenty of time getting to know Seer, his abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and more, we can say that he is definitely in the top spot in apex legend tier list, if not, top three.

Despite a recent nerf, Seer is still incredibly strong, with his passive ability combining multiple Legends’ tactics into one – one that doesn’t even need to recharge. His abilities similarly offer recon to Bloodhound, but he can’t detect players moving at a regular walking speed – only if they run.

We’ve seen many Bloodhound and Crypto mains make the switch to the newest Legend, and it isn’t a surprise; he has some potent abilities and is a lot of fun to play. However, a swift balance patch brought Seer back down to a more manageable level rather than the overpowered Legend he was at launch.

Abilities:

  • The focus of Attention – Seer summons his micro-drones to emit a delayed blast that goes through walls interrupting and revealing enemies.
  • Heart Seeker – Hear and visualize the heartbeats of nearby enemies when aiming down sights.
  • Exhibit – Create a sphere of micro-drones that reveal the location of enemies moving quickly or firing their weapons within.

A-TIER

These A-tier legends are great picks but aren’t essential for an Apex Legends squad.

Pathfinder

Originally, Pathfinder was a standard pick in competitive Apex Legends play during the first few months, but subsequent nerfs have adversely impacted his usability. However, his movement is still beneficial if you spend enough time learning to make the most of his little tricks. In a game where movement matters more than many other skills, Pathfinder can and does still perform quite well.
Also, his ultimate can be used to get a team out of a sticky situation or to ambush another group. It would help if you never underestimated the power of having a zip line appear at the perfect time.
He’s got an adorable backstory, a beautiful song, and a weird hitbox. But most of all, we love the cheery voice lines and encouragement he gives to the team.

Abilities:

  • Insider Knowledge – Scan a survey beacon to reveal the ring’s following location. Scanning a beacon also decreases his Ultimate ability cooldown.
  • Grappling Hook – Grapple to get to out-of-reach places quickly.
  • Zipline Gun – Create a zipline for everyone to use.

Octane

Octane is the definition of a high-risk, high-reward legend, complete with props and launch pads. If you play hard together with a coordinated team, you will surprise some groups, and if you are good at playing, you will easily wreak havoc among unlikely enemies. His ability to spin quickly will be instrumental in the new version of Olympus.

Octane is a principal character right now, favoured by those who like to rush into battles and meet opponents head-on. Unfortunately, this can also lead to Octane lanes getting a bad rap, as they are seen as individual players rather than a team.

His ability to stim has received some tweaks, but this only makes him a more dangerous and rewarding character. It’s tough to hit him when he cums fast, and Passive Swift Mend rejuvenates him after a few steps.

The launchpad from him is also great for doing stunts or stunts. Boards are handy when combining them with the Revenant totem for calm yet relaxed tactical play. Octane’s latest game is excellent to pair with any offensive characters.

Abilities:

  • Swift Mend – While not taking damage, Octane restores health over time.
  • Stim – Move 30% faster for 6 seconds. Costs 10 Health to use. Reduction to slows while active.
  • LaunchPad – Deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air.

Revenant

We have refused to admit Revenant has its place in the metagame for a long time, but we accept it: we were wrong. The Death Totem is very unwieldy and forces players out of their comfort zone if they want to find a solution. Along with his silence, he has options for some of the game’s most aggressive and disruptive plays.

Revenant is undoubtedly the scariest-looking Legend in the game, and his abilities finally live up to his terrifying aura. His Death Totem Ultimate ability can be advantageous when combined with Octane’s Jump Pad but beware of other teams camping at the totem to pounce when you’re sent back in a weakened state.
His Silence can help deny opponents’ abilities, and it also has an unintended effect of obscuring vision like a flashbang. However, his Passive climbing received a massive buff in Season 9, allowing him to climb to heights never seen before.

Valkyrie

Being the latest legend to be added to the apex legend season 12 tier list, Valkyrie sees a lot of use as players figure out where she fits into the overall definition. An influential scout, Valk excels at searching for opponents using her (hidden) passive ability, highlighting opponents on the map when she flies through the sky. This isn’t as powerful as Bloodhound’s scans, Valkyrie must have a line of sight for enemies to scan her, but this is a valuable ability for a character who spends most of her time in the air.

Abilities:

  • VTOL Jets – Press jump again while in the air to engage jetpack. You can switch between hold and toggle mode in the options menu.
  • Missile Swarm – Fire a swarm of mini-rockets that damage and disorient the enemy
  • Skyward Dive – Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valkyrie to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive

Apex legend tier list – B Tier

We won’t blame you for picking these characters – they’re often a lot of fun, but there are better choices if you want to be competitive.

Loba

While seeing loot through walls and creating a black market will help you get the gear you want, the latter can also help speed up enemies. Luba watched his first esports game during the Apex Legends Global Series Tournament and was incredibly useful for teams trading shields or putting together a batch of grenades before a big push.

Luba’s most potent ability is his tactical ability, which allows him to teleport anywhere he can throw his bracelet. Since he was fixed in Season 9, he is more accurate and misses more often, making him useful for a quick reposition or quick spoiler.

Abilities:

  • Eye for Quality – Nearby Epic and Legendary loot can be seen through walls. The range is the same as Black Market Boutique.
  • Burglar’s Best Friend – Teleport to hard-to-reach places or escape trouble quickly by throwing your jump drive bracelet.
  • Black Market Boutique – Place a portable device that allows you to teleport nearby loot to your inventory. Each friendly or enemy Legend can take up to two items.

Bangalore

  •  Bangalore is your pick if you are looking for your typical military shooter character. You have your smoke grenades, tactical missiles in the form of the Rolling Thunder ultimate, significant overall damage. She might not be the unique Legend in the game, but she will never be a wrong pick if you want a reliable damage dealer with a few tricks up her sleeve.

Pathfinder:

  •  As the name suggests, Pathfinder on paper should be one of the best mobility Legends in the game. And while he fell out of favour for some time due to the grappling hook nerfs, the introduction of Storm Point has put him in the spotlight once again, as his zipline is not only fun but also incredibly useful to rotate and traverse to remote points quickly.

Horizon

  • Horizon has undergone many changes in the past several seasons, which have lowered her overall power level, thus pushing her to the bottom of our B-Tier, but she’s still good enough if you are confident in your abilities to play her correctly.

Apex Legend tier list ,C-Tier

These Legends are okay, but they could use some love from Respawn. These Legends are okay, but they could use some love from Respawn.

Maggie

As the latest new face in Apex’s ever-growing roster of mayhem-makers, Maggie seems like a lot of fun to scare. However, we’ve placed her more conservatively on the Apex Legends tier list for now, as she lacks the top tier utility of other agents and seems more advantageous against dungeon teams than anything else.

However, it’s still too early to say how the definition of season 12 will shape up and if Maggie could have a lasting impact.

Maggie abilities:

  • Warlord’s Ire (passive) – Temporarily highlight enemies you’ve damaged, and move faster with a shotgun
  • Riot Drill (tactical) – Fire a drill that burns enemies through obstacles
  • Wrecking Ball (ultimate) – Throw a ball that releases speed-boosting pads and detonates near enemies

Bangalore

Although there are better options than Bangalore, his Smoke Launcher is excellent for escaping heavy pressure from enemies. Also, his Ultimate is useful if you can gather a group of enemies nearby or if you want to leave some distance between you and them to escape.

However, Rolling Thunder does a fraction of the damage that Gibraltar’s defensive barrage does and gives enemies plenty of time to clear the area – the reduced cooldown in Season 6 doesn’t help much either, and the reduced melt time in Season 6 doesn’t help much. Season 7 was not enough for her, unfortunately.

Make sure you’re equipped with digital threats so you can see through your smoke, or keep sniffer dogs on your team to scan opponents after you smoke them.

There’s no denying that Bangalore’s smokes can be incredibly handy for getting out of tight spots or distracting enemies, but this OG legend’s problem has always been her ultimate.

Bangalore abilities:

  • Double Time (Passive) – Taking fire while sprinting makes you move faster for a brief amount of Time
  • Smoke Launcher (tactical) – Fire a high-velocity smoke canister that explodes into a wall of smoke on impact
  • Rolling Thunder (ultimate) – Call in an artillery strike that slowly creeps across the landscape

Mirage

Mirage had some reworks for Season 7, combined with previous boosts; he is a pretty good character. Unfortunately, he gets bumped down to B-tier due to more solid surfaces in higher tiers.

His upgrades include better cloaking when downed, respawning, and reviving teammates. His decoys also last longer and look more convincing – they can mimic his movements – and his Ultimate is similar to the limited-time Emergency Dance Party ability.

Abilities:

  • Now You See Me – In addition to cloaking when downed, Mirage also cloaks while using a respawn beacon and reviving a teammate (the teammate is also cloaked).

Abilities:

  • Now You See Me – In addition to cloaking when downed, Mirage also cloaks while using a respawn beacon and reviving a teammate (the teammate is also cloaked).
  • Psyche Out – Pressing the character utility action button allows Mirage to gain control of his decoy. When controlling the bait, it will mimic Mirage’s every move. Decoys now last for 60 seconds.
  • Life of the Party – Mirage deploys a team of decoys that mimic his every move (think “Emergency Dance Party” from DUMMIEs Big Day). Cool down 60 seconds.

FUSE

Season 8 Legend Fuse moves to Tier C. While his collection is a blast to use (especially his passive ability to use grenades like an NFL quarterback), Fuse is only instrumental in certain situations. Not in all areas like the legends that top this list.

His ending, which stacks enemies into a ring of fire for easy picking, is excellent for surprising rotating teams. As of Season 10, he will now also reveal enemies.

However, Knuckle Cluster’s power increase in Season 9 and another in Season 10 doesn’t make Fuse more viable. While there are certainly worse options on his team, there are better options.

Fuse abilities:

  • Grenadier (passive) – Stack an extra grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster, and more accurately.
  • Knuckle Cluster (tactical) –  Launch a cluster bomb that continuously expels airburst explosives on impact
  • The Motherlode (ultimate) – Launch a bombardment that encircles a target area in a wall of flame.

Crypto

The general consensus has always been that Crypto is an annoying and relatively useless myth to contend with in Apex. And to be honest, that’s still half true – we really hate those stupid drones.

However, while it has a very low rate of play in general and ranked matches, Crypto has made its way into many teams in the esports scene recently. During the fall circuit of the Apex Legends Global Series, Crypto appeared in about a quarter of the teams in some regions, while previously it was hard for you to see it appear.

Rampart

The main issue with the Rampart is the fact that its capabilities are only good in small, tight areas where it can be good for propulsion and crowd control. Unfortunately, her powerful but immobile turret is completely useless due to the importance of navigation in Apex Legends, and Amped Cover is great in Arenas, but not on the massive, open Battle Royale maps.

Apex Legend D Tier list

These Legends are kind of too specialised. You’ll need to spend a lot of time with them to make them useful.

Wattson

Wattson has felt like he’s been on the decline lately, with his pick rates dropping and his uses few and far between.

The fences here don’t feel as effective as they used to, and Watson’s main lines hope to improve them soon. However, Respawn’s Daniel Klein feels in a strong position and has a high win rate, even teasing that he may be on a losing streak in what we initially thought was Season X, but now it seems otherwise.

Unfortunately, Respawn recently took advantage of it with an “upgrade” to one of his emotes, allowing him to put more Nessies onto the battlefield, which is excellent but hardly helps in battle.

Abilities:

  • Spark of Genius – Ultimate Accelerants fully charge Wattson’s abilities. Standing near Interception Pylons boosts Wattson’s Tactical ability recharge rate.
  • Perimeter Security – Create electrified fences by connecting nodes: fences damage and slow enemies.
  • Interception Pylon – Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordnance and repairs damaged shields as long as it stands.

Apex Legend Arenas Tier List

For those more interested in full Apex Legends action, you’ll be playing some games in Arenas, and we have a separate listing just for this game mode.

Due to how the backyard economy works, every ability and consumable cost. As such, picking and choosing the Legends whose abilities bring the most value is critical to success (as is beating your opponents, of course).

For this tier list, we’ve considered which legends have the most effective end players and who can influence the opponent’s economy and who we think will excel in these fast-paced, intense rounds. Our top tier picks come straight from the top stories of the comprehensive Apex Legends tier list. Still, we think a handful of notable lower-level picks could be particularly devastating in the ring.

Who is s tier in Apex?

S tier list includes Ashe, Bloodhound

Is fuse a good legend in Apex Legend ?

He is classed as an Offensive Legend alongside Octane, Bangalore, Mirage, Revenant, Horizon and Wraith. The best thing about Fuse right now is his Passive ability, Grenadier, which allows him to hold more grenades and fire them far faster and further.

Does knuckle cluster stick?

This ability has a 25-second cooldown and can stick to surfaces and enemies. You don’t have to worry about it affecting your teammates, but you can damage it or even kill yourself with it.
